Intelligent Buildings Co-founder Selected to Teach at Harvard Continuing Education

Rob Murchison, Co-founder of Intelligent Buildings, LLC, has been selected as an instructor for the Harvard University Graduate School of Design Executive Education for the second year of their smart building and smart cities curriculum. The class is named, Smart Buildings: Making Place at the Intersection of Planning, Design, and Technology.

Mr. Murchison and Intelligent Buildings have been recognized with numerous industry firsts including lead consulting on “The Smartest Building in America”, conception and development of a Clinton Global Initiative public private partnership, program management for the largest energy analytics project in North America and creation of national smart building standards for both the US and Canadian federal governments. Additionally, he has been named one of the “35 to watch in the industry for 2014″.

Mr. Murchison will bring his considerable experience and expertise in both smart buildings and smart community consulting to the diverse classroom including real estate developers, managers and leasing professionals, master planners, government executives and technology leaders.

The class will:

Examine the transformation of the base-building, including trends towards IP-based automation systems.

Identify trends and tools for next generation place making.

Analyze operational considerations for the new built environment, with impact on cost, environment, quality, and user experiences.

Articulate smart building impact on process, design, and construction.

 

The class will take place over a two day period on the campus of Harvard University at the Graduate School of Design building.
